Did you know that one day your shadow could just decide to act up and mess up your computer and disrupt your lecture?
Yes, they can ! :P
Nah. Just kidding.
But watch this video – it’s one of the most interesting things I’ve ever seen ! :)
How cool would it be if I could do that one day, eh? :P
Final Tutorial 1.4.2010
We had out final class for the semester this morning. Handed our CDs that contained every task/work we had to do the entire sem in to Major Jasmy.
He is certainly a thorough person. For each person’s CD, he actually opened it and checked if everything was there.
Which is decent of him; you know, just to make sure that we’ve got everything that’s required. :)
“Well done, Lisa !” he said. Ahaha.
Rasa bangga pulak XP (Cos SOME people *coughYANAcough* didn’t get that remark teehee) (Just kidding :P)
Feel kinda sad that it’s over now. Had some fun in this class (enjoying free fast Internet connection in the Lab) and learned some interesting things about doing videos, photography, graphics etc.
I wanna say that I really had fun with my fellow group members for the final video assignment. It surely brought us closer together in more ways than one :)
Thanks, guys !
Thanks, Major Jasmy ! :P
Hope that whatever I’ve learned here, I won’t just allow to masuk telinga kanan, keluar telinga kiri, but be able to apply and use in the future.
Whoohooo~ *happy mode*
Our group was looking for a “suitable place to conduct our activities.”
Then we decided that HPA was the “perfect” place !
Dwee, Alia, Syai and Wan’s group, on the other hand….
…got lost in HPA, without knowing it was HPA apparently (Wan has always been blur =.=).
Enjoy their group’s video, which I think was really well done !
Loveddddd the acting !
Our class not bad laa; we have many great actors !
Shalini, Farah, Nisa and As’s group was simply hilarious !
Gorsh, Shalini’s face just cracked me up ! :P
Then, Kak Farah, Aini, Anis and Joe’s group was really creative too.
They did on flora and fauna of HPA, so created a fictional character Mawar Mewangi who fell sick and went in search of a cure – using HPA flora and fauna. Was good ! Kak Farah made a scarrryyy Nenek Kebayan ! wakaka
Unfortunately, I don’t have their videos though.
Wish you could have seen them. I’m sure you would’ve enjoyed them as much as I did !
Seriously impressed me, these cute-unsuspecting-but-have-hidden-talents-for-acting classmates of mine ! XD
Ahaha. I was hoping and hoping and hoping x1000 this would work.
I really sooo want to upload my group’s video for all of you to see.
I checked the available file formats again, and there was no mention of .wmv. Or any video file for that matter.
Then I realized that the only way for me to be able to upload and embed video files into this blog would be to have a Video Upgrade.
Which would cost me $59.97 per year, per blog.
Yikes. I guess that’s out of the question. >.<
A thought struck me.
I can upload videos from YouTube right?
And I have a YouTube account right? (Which I set up quite some time ago but never had any chance or reason to upload any videos before now so my sakuraliz2411 channel is pretty much empty >.<)
Why not upload my group’s video onto YouTube, and then link it to my blog from there?
Aren’t I simply a genius? :P
So, ta-daaaaaaaaa !!!!
Here it is !
(Now I can say) Enjoy~~ XD
Today was our video/group assignment presentation.
Our group decided to go first. I mean, why not? Everyone else seemed a little reluctant to.
So, I was just rubbing my palms thinking, “Let’s just get this done and over with.”
Our video was comparatively short. But I think we did okay. Was happy with what we had done. Honestly, though the video may not seem much, but all our sweat, blood and tears went into every minute of it.
We had the most problem with the file format. Every time we wanted to do something with a video, or a clip, the file format is always not suitable. Like Windows Movie Maker, for example (which was what we used to do our video) could only read .mpg, .mpeg or .wmv files, but not .flv. So, more than a dozen times, we had to convert one file from this format to another, downloading suitable programs just so we could use the file. Much time wasted on that. It was exhausting, seriously >.<
But I was happy with the outcome of our hard work.
Then we saw the other groups’ videos.
They were all seriously good ! And I enjoyed each of them :)
How did they make their videos so canggih-fied? Wow. I seriously admire their masterpieces. They were really good :)
I am certainly impressed with our class. We all managed to release fairly decent videos all for the benefit of HPA, the previously unknown and now known mystery jungle area of UKM :P
Some videos actually even made HPA seem worth making a trip to. What a miracle ! XD
However, I am mostly satisfied with our work. Hopefully, Major Jasmy is too :)
If you’re interested, have a look ! Enjoy~
Just as I was going to upload our group’s video for you to “Enjoy~” I realized that the WordPress “allowed file formats” do not include .wmv – which is exactly the file format our video is.
Will this problem never cease? :(
I’ll fix this later. Darn. I’m so disappointed. >.<
Our video is done.
It was one of the toughest videos I have ever worked on.
Not on the task alone, but we just experienced problem after problem after problem after problem…*go on to infinity*
It was utterly exhausting. But I think we’re done.
The grand UNVEILING is tomorrow.
Hope everything goes well. *crosses fingers*
This is the video from which I got my idea for my bag.
Since everyone was asking about it, I give you the video. So have a look yourself, and see how easy it is to make !
Have fun trying it out like I did ! :)
I was late for class today.
An hour late. >.< Yikes.
Had my college dinner the night before – Malam Anugerah Pelajar (MAP) XIII – in which I was an AJK of the Protocol Department. I learned a lesson here:
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER JOIN PROTOCOL FOR ANY EVENT EVER !!!!!!
Well, I am thankful for the experience, but I would never be that foolish again. >.<
Anyways, the event ended at 12.00am but by the time we had cleared all the tables and chairs and swept the floor clear of litter and rubbish, it was 1.00am. After washing up and showering, I plonked into bed, unconscious, at about 1.30am.
The last thing I remember was waking up at 7.05am when my roomie’s alarm went off, then frowning because I had set mine to 7.45am.
When I next opened my eyes, it was 9.30am.
My class started at 9.00am.
You should have seen me JUMP out of bed !
I was actually really disappointed for being late. Because I missed out on more than half the class’s presentations ! And I was so looking forward to seeing what everyone else had done for their non-electronic teaching aids.
Yes, did I mention that the one day I am late to class is the day that we are supposed to present our projects?
Talk about irony >.<
I missed a lot of my classmate’s presentations, which is sad. But I was happy to present mine ! :)
I got the idea for my non-electronic teaching aid from a Youtube Video actually, which I thought was really cool and simple to make, and thus, the perfect project to do with special children, which Major Jasmy kinda emphasized on :)
It was a T-Shirt bag. :P
It is basically a bag made from an old t-shirt. It was really simple to make, taking up only half an hour of my time. All I needed for materials was an old t-shirt, black duct tape, a pair of scissors and a stapler and staples.
The only difficult part was forming the shape of the bag, but the rest was just lining the bag with the black duct tape.
It was a fun project to do and I love the end result !
(p.s: Thanks Yana for modelling for me ! :P)
I guess it helped that my t-shirt had a nice “bag-feel” to it. So it ended up looking like a bag I could have bought from a store. :)
I felt that this was a good teaching aid, in the sense that it could become an individual class project for children to do. It was simple because there was no sewing involved at all. Just a lot of stapling and taping :)
The children would have fun doing it, and they would end up with a little recycled bag they could use to put their water bottle, umbrella and lunch box in. Each bag would be different because they would be using old t-shirts that they each used to own.
And it would practically cost them nothing, since the main material needed was an old, unwanted t-shirt ! The black duct tape and stapler can be provided by the teacher. The children may need a little help with the stapling stage of making the t-shirt bag, but most of it would be done by the children themselves.
Hence, I personally love the non-electronic aid I chose to do :)
Argh. How I wish I had not been late and missed the rest of the class’s presentations ! :(
Anyway, had an interesting class today – admired many of my classmate’s creativity and hard work !
I LOVE my T-Shirt Bag ;P
Dr. Arba’at took over the lecture last Friday.
I was a little late for class cos I could not wake up that morning. I had slept at 4.00 am the night (or morning, rather) before finishing up my part of the Teaching of Speaking and Listening lesson plan pair assignment.
So, instead of being there by 7.45 am like I usually do, I took the 8.00 am bus and was 10 minutes late to class.
Thankfully, Dr. Arba’at had not started yet.
The first thing I noticed was that the entire class had taken up the first few rows of seats in the lecture hall, which was unusual. Normally, we’d fill up the back seats, waaaaayyyy in the back of the lecture hall.
I snorted. Dr. Arba’at must have made them move forward.
Then, he started his lecture on “Integration of ICT into the Teaching and Learning Process.”
He talked a lot about computers and software and hardware, soft skills and hard skills….
Changes in the teaching and learning process from a teacher-centred one to a student-centred one – which calls for a more independent learning approach. One which integrating ICT in the process can provide. Since exploratory discovery methods of learning is encouraged in our students, using technology like the internet and personal computers is beneficial.
Teachers should also encourage active learning, instead of passive (like lectures are >.<) and emphasize more on discovery and creative learning. Teachers should also bear in mind that learning should be a 2-way thing which is interactive and fun and not 1-way (mainly teaching>>student).
SMART school was a concept by the government as an attempt to encourage and facilitate the use of ICT in the teaching and learning process. Schools such as these were chosen and given the privilege to be subsidized for computers in all classrooms to be used by teachers and students alike.
With such facilities, students are able to work and study independently on their own, with only minimal guidance from the teacher. Yes, the teacher is still needed to provide the teaching and the input. However, students could study at their own pace, and do extra drills and practices via computer programs and electronic interactive tasks. This promotes self-driven learning and lifelong learning as well, since students are able to gain information on virtually any topic in the world with the familiarization of computers and its applications like the internet.
This also increases the quality of the teaching and learning process as well as add variety to the delivery part of teaching. The vast available resources on the internet simply boosts the quality of learning and information.
Although many schools can afford to provide their students with computers and internet facilities, there are still many, especially in rural areas that simply do so. And of the those schools that can afford these facilities, may experience difficulties and problems in providing the space and the maintenance for it.
While learning this is class, I kept getting distracted. It was really annoying but I just could not for the life of me take my eyes off it long enough to look at Dr. Arba’at’s slides for more than 5 seconds.
My eyes kept going back to this shiny, shiny surface in the front of the lecture hall.
I think certain people might understand what (or who) I mean. :P
For those who do not understand what I am implying here, it is better for you to remain that way ! XD
Comparatively productive time during this lecture, considering how I kept getting distracted by The Shiny Thing, and the lack of sleep. :)
I was involved in the New Tune Live Performance XIII in DECTAR up until late the previous night.
So many rehearsals and practices on my Chinese pronunciation (which I am utterly hopeless in >.<) and dance moves for the finale which I did not want to mess up.
I was completely exhausted after spending eternity the whole day in DECTAR busy with practices and prepping for the show and returning to the comfort of my room only at 1.00am in the morning :(
So, it was no surprise that I did not feel like waking up at 8.00am in the morning for a 9.00am class the following day. >.<
My feet hurt, my back ached, my eyes were heavy, and every yawn I made (which came every few minutes or so) made me tear up as if I were crying over a tragic Korean drama story.
Here’s a secret: I really did not feel like going for class this morning. Yes, I was actually extremely tempted to skip.
I rushed to get the 8.30am bus and made it to the Lab nice and early for class. Took a seat at a computer and started browsing through my usual: Facebook.
Sometimes, it is so automated that it scares me. >.<
Without realizing it, it was already
and Major Jasmy had not yet appeared on the scene !
Was class canceled and I had forgotten to write it down?
But there were others who were there in the Lab as well. So, it’s not just me.
“Eh, korang, mana Major Jasmy? Takde kelas ke?”
And return to Facebook.
Make use of the free and fast internet connection in FPend, why not? :)
